1COLD were invited to participate in a strictly controlled eTendering event. The contract was to be awarded in the form of a JCT Minor Works Building Contract with Contractors Design. The bid had to include a fully detailed Contract specification and the bidder was to have full design responsibility for the Works and compliance with all industry standards and legislation.
Brief:
A cold storage facility was required by the NHS to store anti-swine flu drugs at an ambient temperature of between 18° to 21°C and at a specific relative humidity, ventilated to provide two air changes per hour. The unit was to be capable of storing 1000 mixed pallets with adequate manoeuvrability to enable the removal & replacement of any one or all of the pallets at all times. The unit was to be built within a disused aircraft hangar. To accommodate this the unit needed to be approximately 30m x 30m x 10m(h) and have the capability of being dismantled, transported and re-assembled if required. Levels of lighting, fire detection and remote temperature monitoring with audio & visual alarms also required.
1COLD were successful in winning the tender and delivered the project on time (to a programme of 10wks), within budget and to the clients full satisfaction.
